About the Project
BlocPower builds smarter, greener, healthier communities for all. We’re on a mission to make the transition to a clean energy economy equitable for everyone, especially those in under-resourced and historically marginalized communities. BlocPower uses the crowdfunding money we raise to fill funding gaps to help get projects off the ground or see them through to completion.
For example, in 2021, after using an oversized, aging oil boiler and portable electric space heaters to heat the building, a church in White Plains, New York faced an emergency from loss of heat in the middle of a natural gas moratorium. BlocPower was able to use crowdfunded money to move the church away from fossil fuels to a new, all-electric air source heat pump system.
This year, BlocPower will continue to expand its electrification efforts throughout America. From helping a senior center in Ithaca, NY stand up an electric heating system in time for winter, to bringing electric cooling systems to low-income residents in Denver amid unprecedented summer heat, to installing an induction oven in a church kitchen in Atlanta — we want to be at the forefront of addressing climate injustice and democratizing access to clean energy. Use of Proceeds
The capital secured through this initiative is earmarked for investment in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure projects.
Financial Information
BlocPower Energy Services 3 LLC is issuing Climate Impact Notes. The Notes are senior and unsecured, with a fixed interest rate of 8% per year paid semi-annually for the 7-year term.
For each of the 14 semi-annual payments, the investor will receive the same flat payment, including interest due plus repayment of a portion of their principal. The first payment will start 6 months from the Issuance Date.
The investment can be repaid early with a 5% penalty.
