Energy Efficiency for Underserved Communities

Heat Pumps for New England is part of Capital Good Fund’s DoubleGreen Loan program, focused on tackling energy inefficiency while promoting financial inclusion and environmental sustainability.

Since 2011, the DoubleGreen Loan program has supported over 1,341 households, providing more than $18.64 million in loans with a 99.51% repayment rate.

This initiative directly addresses the growing need for accessible and affordable energy solutions in underserved communities. Funds raised through the program will finance critical energy-efficient upgrades, including heat pumps, insulation, and ductwork. These upgrades aim to reduce energy costs for families while promoting long-term sustainability in their homes.

Meet the Team

Capital Good Fund is a nonprofit organization committed to creating pathways out of poverty through inclusive financial services. Based in Providence, Rhode Island, the Fund provides financial coaching and affordable loans to help households improve both their financial health and energy efficiency.

With operations spanning multiple states, Capital Good Fund integrates financial education with accessible loans to empower low- and moderate-income families. These efforts contribute to a larger mission of addressing poverty and fostering a green economy through innovative, community-focused solutions.

In 2023, the Fund delivered nearly $4.4 million in loans, and by August 2024, it had already surpassed that figure. As demand for energy-efficient solutions continues to grow, Capital Good Fund is scaling its programs to benefit even more households in need.

At the end of the five-year term, a balloon payment will include the remaining principal. Pre-payment is expected, offering flexibility while supporting program growth.
